I recently retired from a Management Position in the Oil & Gas industry and now happy spending more time with my camera, looking to improve my skills, and share beautiful photos. I especially enjoy landscapes and seascapes but have also spent time shooting wildlife, abstracts and product shots (mostly my guitars!). I don’t usually photograph people but the image on the left is a selfie, albeit taken with a DSLR and some budget studio lighting.
I have owned cameras for a long time but only began to consider myself a photographer in the last 7 or so years. Seeking out courses or mentors or some sort of education can make a huge difference – it certainly did to me. I believe my DSLR is still smarter than me – but now I know what most of the buttons do and certainly enough to achieve the kind of results I’m after.
